December Meeting
12-13-2005

December marked out last meeting for the 2005 calendar year.  To show appreciation for the work the officers and their advisers(above) did to make it a successful year, the Yanush Chapter gave out hoodies with the Yanush logo embroidered on them.  We are pleased that many of these recognized individuals have choosen to serve the Chapter again in 2006 in various areas of service.  During the meeting, the chapter broke into groups.  One group was led by Andy Kooiman(left) in a training session for Unit Elections.  The other group was taught some intresting cooking recipes and techniques for use in backcountry camping.  Several members from Troop 890 led the demonstration, including Andrew Meaders(right).

After the cooking demonstration our newly elected Chapter Chief, Trevor Hodges, taught the chapter how to make a monkey's fist knot.  This knot is generally used as part of a heaving line, which is tied to a larger rope that can't be thrown over long distances.  When the monkey's fist is thrown, such as over a high branch, it can be used to pull a larger, heavier rope up and over.  To learn how to make your own monkey's fist, here's a link.  Overall, the meeting went very well and we hope to see everyone again in 2006!
