November Meeting
11-09-2004

           The Yanush Chapter meeting this past month was a lot fun and everyone learned an unusual new skill.  Our newly elected officers were on hand to kick off the meeting and deliver their goals for the future of the Yanush Chapter.  After opening the meeting(RIGHT: the officers and appointed leads) with the pledge of allegaince and the OA obligation, a few announcements were made;

• Brotherhood Warrior Andrew Sears promoted the lodge's upcoming Pow-Wow in February.

• Ordeal Warrior Gabriel Villalobos asked for arrowmen to come out to Camp Cherokee and help staff the upcoming ordeal in December.

• Our Chapter Chief Matt Canaan announced that we should develop goals as a chapter.  Some of our members offered some input as to what our goals should be.

           The meeting then broke out into small groups so that the officers could talk to members more specifically about their positions and get people intrested in helping the chapter in areas such as ordeal staffing, Arrow of Light ceremonies, unit elections, and the district dinner.            Then it was on to this month's presentation. Dr. Carter Hallmark(Right), from the So Tsoh Chapter of Western Star District, came to our meeting to show us how to make fletchings for arrows. The process involves removing the feathers from a wing, trimming them to length, gluing them to the arrow shaft and tying them down with thread. The chapter plans to sell the arrows as a fundraiser in the coming years. After some of the members made arrows, the meeting was closed with the traditional song of our order(Below).
