Order of the Arrow Troop & Team Representatives
          This page is for everything relating to Order of the Arrow Troop/Team Representatives.  In order to maintain effective communication between the Lodge, the Chapter and the Unit, there needs to be youth members who can actively participate in Lodge and Chapter activities and promote Camping and the Order to other scouts. This page offers detailed descriptions of the duties of OA Troop/Team Representatives.

Job Description, Duties and Qualifications

OA Troop/Team Representative Job Description:

An Order of the Arrow Troop/Team Representative is a youth liaison serving between the local Order of the Arrow Lodge, the local Order of the Arrow Chapter and his troop or team. In his troop/team, he serves as a communication and programmatic link to the Arrowmen and adult leaders and Scouts who are not presently members of the Order of the Arrow. He does this in a fashion that strengthens the mission of the lodge and purpose of the Order of the Arrow. By setting a good example, he enhances the image of the group of honored campers who are the Order of the Arrow as a service arm to his troop/team.

OA Troop/Team Representative Duties:

  • Serves as a communication link between the lodge or chapter and the troop/team by attending Chapter Meetings.
  • Encourages year round and resident camping in the troop/team.
  • Encourages older Scouts and Varsity Scouts to participate in high adventure programs.
  • Encourages Scouts and Varsity Scouts to actively participate in community service projects.
  • Assists with leadership skills training in the troop/team.
  • Encourages Arrowmen to assume leadership positions in the troop/team.
  • Encourages Arrowmen in the troop/team to be active participants in the lodge and/or chapter activities and to seal their membership in the Order by becoming Brotherhood members.
  • Sets a good example
  • Enthusiastically wears the Scout uniform correctly.
  • Lives by the Scout Oath, Scout Law and OA Obligation.
  • Shows Scout spirit.
  • Serve As an Elangomat or on a Ceremony Team at least once during term of office.
  • Recruit at least two (2) Elangomats from your unit.
  • Encourage all registered arrowmen in your unit to keep their OA dues current.
  • Promote the Order of the Arrow in your unit and motivate scouts to remain active.
  • Serve on a Unit Elections Team.

OA Troop/Team Representative Qualifications:

  • Under 18 years old.
  • Troop Representative is appointed by SPL with SM approval.
  • Team Representative is appointed by Varsity Team Captain with Varsity Scout Coach approval.
  • OA Member in good standing (Dues Paid).

OA Troop Representative Reports To:

Assistant Senior Patrol Leader at the Troop Level

OA Troop/Team Representative Lead at the Chapter Level

Order of the Arrow Troop Representative Committee
